Dozens of DECC staff use contract loophole to avoid tax payments

Dozens of staff members at the Department of Energy and Climate Change are avoiding paying the full rate of income tax by using a loophole in their employment contracts. Employment data provided following a Freedom of Information request by ClickGreen revealed that 69 workers from admin officers to deputy directors were paid through external companies avoiding deductions for tax or National Insurance.
Information about the employment status of directors at DECC was withheld.

Number of dumped syringes on the up

Drug addicts are dumping more dirty needles in public places than ever before – including close to schools and children’s parks.

Figures obtained by theWeekly News under the Freedom of Information Act show that more than 250 dirty needles have been dumped in the last three years.

That data only includes needles which have been found – and only the incidents reported to East Cambs District Council – not the police or any other organisation.
