This year Request Initiative will host a series of FoIA workshops that examine the uses of the Act in the contexts of campaigning, journalism and research. We are pleased to announce that our first session is to take place on Monday 16th January at our Holborn Office.
Brendan Montague, the director of Request Initiative, will be giving a 45 minute introduction to the Freedom of Information Act which will include a discussion about how filing requests should fit into a broader investigative strategy, advice on the request process and how to deal with the three most challenging exemptions.
The workshop is addressed to journalists, campaigners, researchers or members of the public who are interested in issues of transparency and freedom of information.
There will then be an opportunity for questions and discussion. We hope the event will also allow researchers and journalists network with others using Freedom of Information as an investigation tool.
Entrance is free but to reserve a place please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Light refreshments will be provided.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Date: January 16, from 6pm to 7:30pm
